Schedule

The Master in Chemical Engineering is taught from Monday to Friday from 15:00 to 20:00 (classroom C and computer rooms D or AI of the Faculty of Chemistry). The theoretical and practical courses of the first year have been distributed in two semesters (September to December and January to May), and these each in turn in two bimesters. The schedules and exam calendar can be downloaded in the following links.

Master project

The Master project will consist of an Engineering, Research or Development Project, of theoretical or practical nature, which includes aspects of equipment and/or facilities design, plant safety, environmental impact and economy or profitability studies. This project will be done in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the University of Oviedo or in a Research Center or Industry outside the University. In the later case, the students will have a tutor in the external Research Center or Industry, as well as a supervisor that belongs to the Faculty of the Master.

The presentation and defense of the Master Project will take place in Spanish or English once approved all the courses of the curriculum. The presentation can be done in the calls of January, May or July.

Internship

PrácticasThe Internship in collaborating Companies, Industries, Institutions, Organizations or Research Centers outside the University of Oviedo is carried out by all the students of the master. They aim of the Internship is to enrich and complement the university training of the student. It provides a direct contact with the professional activity by which they acquire experience in applying their knowledge, skills and attitudes in a real-life scenario. All of that promotes the students' experience towards their next step in their career, enhancing their employability o and integration into multidisciplinary work teams.

The Internship has been planned during the second year (third semester), so that their development does not coincide with other courses. The duration of the internship will be at least 240 hours. A list of collaborating companies (Asturiana de Zinc, Arcelor-Mittal, Linpac Packaging Pravia, Bayer Hispania, ENCE, COGERSA, CETEMAS) is offered annually to the student. However, the students are free to search for their own other national or international companies or organizations. In the latter case, the student should consult with the Coordinator of the Internship Program, in order to determine the suitability of the practices for the purpose of their potential academic recognition.

It is also possible to combine the completion of the Internship with the Master project in the company or in collaboration with it. In these situations, the duration of the set would be one academic semester, with a minimum of four and a half months and a maximum of six months.
